Finished Animation

It's finally finished!!!
I'm so pleased with the finished result! It's really inspired me to take the animation further and animate more monsters! I've found it so exciting seeing the monsters come to life and can't wait to learn more tricks on after effects!

Enjoy...

Monster Animation

I've had a bit of a slow start with my animation but things are definitely moving on now! I had initially wanted to do an animation with the main character of the children's book. I became more and more stressed with the amount of work I was having to do along side this and decided to opt for something a little simpler.

I decided to focus my animation on my monsters. This makes more sense because they are relatively easy to animate and are also something I plan to continue with after graduation.

Although I'm finding After Effects confusing I really think it's something I want to learn properly in the future. My style of illustration is really easy to convert into animations because of the simple shapes and character anatomy. I've really enjoyed picking which monsters to use and imagining how they would move around and behave...

Below are two of my finished animations. I intend to animate a further two monsters and then put all four into one animation with sound effects and music!

Character Designs

Have been playing around the past couple of weeks with character design. Alongside the Uganda Children's book project I have been continuing with my daily monster (over 140 of them now) and have also been producing some other random characters...

Here are some examples.

Angry Bear. Was playing around with over exaggerated features. I still think he could be more exaggerated!

Little Robot Character. Came up with him absent mindedly and thought he deserved to be finished with colour :)

Wanted to see if I could produce different animals in the same style as I have been using for the Uganda Children's book project. Really want to write my own story where the African animals travel round the world meeting and learning about other animals.

A more recent daily monster. Really love the colours on this guy :)

Best texture so far

Despite not being very active on here with my daily monster I have been keeping up with it... I have over 90 monsters now and have been thinking about making a book of them once I have 100...

Have also been working with a new stronger paint texture... Was finding the other ones less effective because of all the white spaces and areas with too much detail. This took away from the monsters so I came up with a more subtle texture with much stronger colour. I'm very happy with this texture and will be using it on all my future monsters...

Here are a few examples of the texture in action...

Even More Monsters...

Few more to add into the ever growing family!
Really want to see if I can push myself to create at least one of these guys per day.... Wish me luck :)

More monsters!

Have been trying out a new working method to give my monsters more personality. These monsters were designed around an object or word rather than just from my own head.
Here are a few examples of how they are looking so far...

...Spanner...

...Triangle...

... Hedgehog...
